Brenda Wilson-Hale
Vice President for University Development,
Chief Executive Officer of the WSU Foundation
Brenda Wilson-Hale arrived at Washington State University in March 2007 to serve as Senior Vice President of the Washington State University Foundation. In this role, Brenda managed a staff of more than 125 front line fundraisers and advancement professionals. In May 2007, Brenda was appointed Interim Vice President for University Development and was named Vice President for University Development and Chief Executive Officer of the WSU Foundation in Feburary 2008.
Brenda brings more than 25 years of public and corporate relations, marketing, and development experience to her post at the WSU Foundation. Prior to arriving at WSU, Brenda served as Senior Director of Development for The Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University from July 2005 to February 2007. In this role, she successfully led the college's fund-raising efforts to a $125 million goal as part of the University's $1.2 billion Campaign for MSU. Brenda also held several development positions with DePaul University, including Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations (1999-2002); Associate Vice President, Office of Development (2002-2004); and Vice President, Office of Development (2004-2005).
Past positions included Associate Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations at Michigan State University (1996-1999); Assistant Director of Campaigns for the Morehouse School of Medicine (1995-1996); and Director of Development for the Museum of African American History (1989-1993). Brenda began her career in the Bell system, working for Michigan Bell, AT&T, Ameritech public relations and marketing for 12 years. She was promoted several times during her Bell system career.
Brenda earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism in 1973 and her Juris Doctorate in 1992, both from Wayne State University. She is a member of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
